JAMES GAUER architecture + design

James Gauer designs architecture and interiors of exceptional elegance and simplicity in locations as far flung as New York, Santa Barbara, and Vancouver Island.

His work has been featured in numerous publications, including Architectural Record, Elle Decor, House & Garden, House Beautiful, Ideat, Interior Design, Metropolitan Home, The New York Observer, The New York Times and Remodelista. It has also been featured in several books, including Brilliant: White in Design, Lofts, Renovate, and The New American Dream: Living Well in Small Homes, of which he is the author.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in international affairs from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in architecture from Columbia University.

He writes regularly for Architectural Record, where he is a contributing editor, and divides his time between Chicago and San Miguel de Allende.
